About meI was a Tour Operator for 22 years taking groups from the U.K. to Hollywood and Las Vegas to "meet the stars". I am now retired and living in Yorkshire. Also worked backstage in many U.K. theatres back in the fifties. I am a big Frank Sinatra fan and saw him many times in Hollywood, Las Vegas and in London. Also visited his private office in Hollywood and received several personal gifts from him (all with his name on them) and signed photos over the years.InterestsMy main interest is in the classic films of the 40s and 50s. I now give talks and a film presentation to clubs and societies in the Yorkshire area entitled "Meeting the Hollywood stars of Yesteryear" which I enjoy doing. The footlights have long been dimmed but the memories linger on ....About my collectionsI have a large collection of Hollywood biographies plus several videos and DVDs. I have many Alfred Hitchcock films on DVD plus a personal letter he sent me in 1966 naming his six favourite films! I have one of the actual programmes for the James Cagney Life Achievement Award show (signed to me by Paramount film producer A.C. Lyles). Also the programme for the 1975 Academy Awards show which my wife and I were very privileged to attend. Regarding my list of favourite actors below I should point out that some of them are CHARACTER ACTORS and although they became familiar faces to us cinemagoers years ago they may not be instantly recognisable to everyone today. However, I firmly believe them ALL to be worthy of inclusion in my list!! I was always very interested in the character actors in these films and during my 22 years visiting Hollywood I was fortunate to get to know several of them personally and we became friends.Movies
